About
Murphy’s
History
Murphy’s
Steakhouse has had several names and many owners over the
last 50 years, but three things have never changed, and never
will:
• High quality food
• Value to our customers
• Friendly service
1990 - Craig
and Regi Stonebraker purchased Murphy’s Steakhouse and
transformed it into the cozy restaurant it is today. While
they continue the tradition of serving hand-cut steaks and
fresh seafood with an extraordinarily friendly staff, they
also made a few improvements.
They remodeled the interior, added a non-smoking section
and introduced catering services. They also work side-by-side
with chef Rickie Tillman to create imaginative weekly specials
that keep customers coming back.
1977
- Jim Murphy purchased Calloway’s and renamed it Murphy’s
Steakhouse. He hired an amazing staff that began the “welcome
home” feeling for which the restaurant is known. It
was Jim that first introduced Indianapolis to affordable hand-cut
steaks and fresh seafood.
1960
- At some point in the 60s, Frisch’s changed hands –
and names – and became Calloway’s Steakhouse.
1950
- Here’s a little known secret, Murphy’s originally
opened as a Frisch’s Big Boy restaurant in the 1950s.
“Boy,” it’s come a long way.
